Brook noted, 'Our approach isn't vastly different from how we play Test cricket; we maintain an aggressive style. However, we haven't engaged in much one-day cricket recently, which complicates things. I can't pinpoint the exact reasons for our batting struggles. Facing the second-best team in the world on their home ground, we were outplayed.' He further reflected on the talent within the squad, stating, 'It's frustrating to see players who could excel in any team not performing to their potential. New Zealand played exceptionally well, and we must acknowledge their superiority.'

Pitch Conditions and Team Performance

In the second ODI, England's performance was disappointing, especially compared to Brook's remarkable 135 runs in the previous match, where they managed a competitive total of 234 at Mount Maunganui. Brook dismissed the notion that pitch conditions were to blame, asserting that the batting lineup should be adept at handling swing and seam. He remarked, 'That's merely an excuse. I would have preferred to bowl first today in Hamilton, but we must be capable of facing challenging conditions and scoring runs.'
